Let's transform admissions. What should we really measure to recognize readiness for college or university?


I think we need a revamp of the numerical grades and other tests currently used to assess student readiness. Changing admissions to focus more on personal narratives could help select students with grit and creativity. It could also have a systemic effect, propagating this emphasis down into high schools and earlier grades. Students who realize their favourite school tests for their resilient creativity might be more likely to try out innovations themselves, as failure suddenly becomes a good thing.

What kinds of tests could we create that could allow these changes to happen?
